Microbial Fuel Cell Treatment of Wastewater

A research assistant position for an MS or PhD degree is available at the University of New Mexico in Environmental Engineering, with a focus on development of microbial fuel cell technologies as means of harvesting energy from wastewater. The research project will include elements of electrochemistry, process control, modeling, microbiology, and molecular analyses to develop MFC electrodes for improved energy production during biological treatment of wastewater.

Ph.D. Student/Research Assistant

The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking highly motivated Ph.D. graduate students to work with Dr. Woo Hyoung Lee beginning Fall 2014/Spring 2015.

Students will conduct research in the area of the following.

1) Biofilm formation, biocorrosion, and nitrification and in chloraminated drinking water distribution systems

2) Development of new emerging electrochemical and/or bio microsensor (PAH, dispersant, hydroxylamine, and/or algae monitoring aquatic microsensor)

PhD scholarship in Hydrologic Modelling, Data Assimilation and Remote Sensing

The Department of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Environment) advertises a fully funded 3-year PhD position in Hydrologic Modelling, Data Assimilation and Remote Sensing. The project aims to develop methods to inform basin-scale hydrologic/hydrodynamic models with radar altimetry data from the Cryosat and Sentinel-3 satellite missions. The project will be carried out as a collaborative effort between DTU Environment and DHI. This PhD position will be partly funded by the projects LOTUS (EU-FP7) and CRUCIAL (European Space Agency).
