Materials Chemistry, Photocatalysis

Open position for One (1) PhD student is available immediately in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering (MNE) in the School of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). The research focus is on advanced functional materials for energy and environmental applications, including but not limited to, photocatalysts, luminescent materials, membranes, sensors, and solar cells.

Analytical Chemistry and Separation Processes

The University of Wyoming, Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, is recruiting a doctoral seeking student with an anticipated start date in August 2016. The student will work on a recently awarded project that will focus on the characterization and extraction of rare earth elements (REEs) and precious metals in brines generated from oil and natural gas production sites (produced water). This is a collaborative project between the University of Wyoming, Idaho National Laboratory, and the U.S. Geological Survey.

Environmental Biotechnology

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo is seeking a PhD student in resource recovery wastewater treatment, focusing on extracellular electron transfer (EET). A selected student will be offered a research assistantship covering stipend and tuition.

PhD Fellowship in Nanoremediation

The ME Key Lab is recruiting a PhD student to develop nanomaterials and processes for cleanup of a cadmium-impacted site. The ideal candidate shall have a Master degree in material chemistry, environmental engineering, geochemistry, water resources engineering or other related areas.Past research experiences in developing and characterizing nanomaterials are highly appreciated. Knowledge of Chinese is an add but not a must. Our lab is located in Shenyang and a part of Shenyang University.

Antibiotic Resistance

Dr. Patrick McNamara invites applications for a PhD student who will conduct research in the areas of antibiotic resistance, wastewater treatment, and micropollutants. The ideal candidate will have an MS degree in environmental engineering or a related field. Applicants with a BS that have research experience will be considered. The successful candidate will join the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at Marquette University this Fall semester, 2016. Interested applicants should send a C.V. to Dr. McNamara at patrick.mcnamara@mu.edu. More information on Dr.

Ph.D. position in Environmental Engineering

A PhD research assistant position is available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH: http://www.uah.edu/)starting Fall, 2016 (preferred)/Spring, 2017.  The successful applicant is expected to conduct research in the area of sustainable water and wastewater treatment and/or non-point source pollution control. A BS in environmental engineering or a related field is required and applicants with a MS degree in pertinent fields are preferred.

Material for water treatment technology

The Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at Clemson University seeks applications from qualified students for pursuit of a PhD in Environmental Engineering starting in Fall 2016. The student will conduct research in the area of inorganic materials development for experimental antifouling technologies within membrane water treatment processes. Past coursework in inorganic/physical chemistry or materials science is required.  The successful applicant will hold a bachelor’s or M.S.
