Membrane processes: oil-water separation

We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work on a federally-funded interdisciplinary research project focusing on the development of new membranes and membrane processes for oil-water separation. Research topics include materials design of affinity separation membranes, design and testing of dynamic (rotational) membrane separation systems, and evaluation of novel membranes in standalone and hybrid separation processes.

The University at Buffalo Hydrogeochemistry group seeks an enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher to participate in the following multi-institutional projects:

• an NSF-sponsored project to investigate the behavior of CFCs in low-carbon content sedimentary aquifers.
• A DoD/SERDP funded project to evaluate the effect of nonlinear and rate limited chlorinated solvent desorption on persistence, remediation resistance, and concentration rebound in contaminated sedimentary aquifers.

Environmental Biotechnology

Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Biotechnology
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
University of Alberta

A postdoctoral research position is available to develop engineered biological bioreactors for wastewater and hazardous waste treatment. Extensive research will be carried out using molecular biology tools including PCR/cloning, DGGE, FISH and quantitative-PCR.

Geochemistry - CO2 Sequestration - LIBS

Opening for a Post-doctoral Researcher in Geochemistry - CO2 Sequestration - LIBS

The National Energy Technology Laboratory (US DOE-NETL) and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking to fill an opening for a post-doctoral researcher in CO2 Sequestration within the Environmental Engineering & Science Management group of CMU.

Dow Sustainability Fellows Program

University of Michigan Dow Sustainability Fellows Program The Dow Sustainability Fellows Program is designed to create a new generation of sustainability scholars who understand the necessity of collaborating across disciplines and sectors to address and solve complex sustainability challenges. With this in mind, the program is seeking proposals from postdoctoral scholars committed to finding interdisciplinary, actionable, and meaningful sustainability solutions on local-to-global scales.

Advanced oxidation/membrane treatment

A postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Clarkson University is sought to work on an U.S. EPA funded project aimed at optimizing and evaluating an advanced water treatment technology that combines membrane technology with an advanced oxidation process (AOP). The project will involve optimizing a novel laboratory-scale treatment system, employing state of the art analytical equipment for the quantification of emerging contaminants, and evaluating the treatment process on surface water and wastewater matrices. A candidate with Ph.D.

Groundwater Hydrology and Microbiology

The RESTORE Research Group at Western University and the Ecohydrology Research Group at University of Waterloo are seeking post-doctoral fellows to work in an integrated project that will assess the impacts of groundwater-surface water interactions on nutrient and pathogen dynamics along beaches of the Great Lakes. This collaborative research project involves a multi-disciplinary team of researchers from RESTORE, the Ecohydrology Research Group and Environment Canada’s National Water Research Institute.

Environmental Biotechnology and Chemistry

There are multiple projects for post-doctoral funding in the EWRE program in the environmental biotechnology and chemistry labs of Drs. Nancy Love, Terri Olson, Lutgarde Raskin and Krista Wigginton (joining our faculty in January 2013). Project topics include activities in the list below. Applications should submit a single pdf file that includes a cover letter that outlines the applicant's research goals, CV, a list of at least three references, and copies of recent papers.
