Three Faculty Positions in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for up to three tenure-track faculty positions effective September 1, 2013. These positions are part of the strategic expansion intended to support research and teaching activities in Environmental Sustainability group. These positions are intended for applicants with fundamental expertise and research interests in infrastructure and urban sustainability, environmental engineering and science, water-energy nexus or sustainable energy systems. Preference will be given to appointees at the Assistant Professor level but applicants with outstanding credentials will be considered at higher levels. We are seeking outstanding candidates to join our vibrant and growing department of 19 faculty members, 300 undergraduate and 120 full-time graduate students (65 of which are PhD students). The successful applicant will be expected to develop and sustain a strong, externally funded research program within their area of expertise and contribute to the teaching mission of the graduate and undergraduate programs. Candidates interested in collaborative and interdisciplinary research within the Department and/or other faculty in related focus areas in the Swanson School of Engineering, such as the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation (MCSI) (www.mascarocenter.pitt.edu) and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Energy (http://www.energy.pitt.edu), are encouraged to apply. An earned doctorate in civil engineering, environmental engineering and science, earth science or a closely related field is required.
