Laboratory Operations Coordinator Arizona State University The Biodesign Institute Job Id# 29233 Duties and Responsibilities: The Laboratory Operations Coordinator will perform a wide variety of clerical tasks essential for maintaining a safe and productive research laboratory. Activities include registering laboratory personnel for safety classes and lab access, handling paperwork for hazardous waste collection and removal, maintaining laboratory instrumentation in good working order, attending research group meetings, documenting action items in meeting minutes and following up to ensure that required actions are taken to maintain a safe work environment, place orders for chemical reagents and materials and maintain a digital chemical inventory. Assist with scheduling of research personnel and instrumentation usage to maximize productivity of work group. Implement and ensure compliance with Internal Review Board and other health and safety regulations. Attend meetings on health and safety on behalf of the research group. Ensure proper documentation of compliance with health and safety regulations in scientific manuscripts to be submitted for publications. Assist with reporting to agencies sponsoring research activities. Assist Center Director in maintaining a productive and vigorous research program. DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a chemistry or closely related field AND one (1) year experience in a laboratory setting with responsibility for hazardous material management OR, Five (5) years of laboratory activities or related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications: Experience in: a research laboratory; the operation of ion chromatographs; gas chromatographs; liquid chromatographs; mass spectrometers; maintaining databases; managing inventory; coordinating the work of others; experience with Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
