We are seeking an Environmental Engineer 2/Environmental Engineer 3 (14556) to join the staff at our Salisbury, MD location.

Required:

ENGINEER 2

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. (ABET Accredited)
  • 2 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below (including experience as an Engineer 1) OR the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:
    - understanding and applying engineering theories, standards, concepts, resources and techniques;
    - working on routine projects independently and/or working with teams on larger projects, such as supporting the development and delivery of routine projects
    - collecting and analyzing non-routine data;
    - working closely with other groups within and/or outside the company;
    - identifying and analyzing job/project-related issues and problems;
    - keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in engineering.
  • Experience demonstrating skill reading/reviewing structural, geotechnical and/or construction drawings related to structures.
  • Experience demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software to perform work functions.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in the Engineering Development Program.
  • Ability and willingness to perform a second role in accordance with PHI's Emergency Preparedness Guidelines for all employees.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours (including holidays and weekends) with little or no notice, on-call and during storms and system emergencies.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and PHI regulations (for example, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing).
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments which may include outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check which consists of a 7-year criminal records check for felony convictions.

    Preferred:
  • Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
  • PE registration or capable of obtaining PE registration within three (3) years.
  • Experience in civil site design, with direct involvement in stormwater management design, erosion and sediment control , hydrologic modeling, permitting and use of BMPs
  • Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, CAD software, GIS/GWD, Visio).
  • Experience demonstrating skill using Project Management software (for example; MS Project or Primavera).
  • Experience demonstrating skill leading the development and delivery of routine projects.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using specialized utility design engineering programs such as PLS CADD, PLS Pole, PLS Caisson, SAG 10, etc.
  • Experience demonstrating skill reading/reviewing surveying/contour maps and construction drawings
  • Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based analytical software and/or presentation software.

    ENGINEER 3

    Required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. (ABET Accredited)
  • 4 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below (including experience as an Engineer 2) OR the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:
    - understanding and applying engineering theories, standards, concepts, resources and techniques;
    - working on complex projects independently and/or working with teams on larger projects;
    - independently performs engineering and analytical studies while demonstrating sound problem solving skills.
    - working closely with other groups within and/or outside the company;
    - keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in engineering.
  • Experience demonstrating skill reading/reviewing structural, geotechnical and/or construction drawings related to structures.
  • Experience demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software to perform work functions.
