Postdoctoral-level research position(s) are open in the area of “urban water environment”, (UWE). Appointments will be made at the Assistant Specialist III level. UWE regards urban water quality, including surface waters, groundwater, and reclaimed water. The initial research foci include origins, fates, and attenuation of mixed pollution (e.g. nutrients, metals, micropollutants, and pathogens) associated with discharges that migrate through soil, with the potential for affecting groundwater and surface waters. Mixed methods including field measurements and sampling, laboratory analyses (e.g. genomics, proteomics, analytical chemistry), and modeling applied at relevant scales (laboratory/bench, field) are towards understanding endpoints and rates suitable for water quality prediction and management. Experienced Ph.D. level researchers with demonstrated record of productivity, as indicated by publications in peer-reviewed journals, are welcome to apply from the following fields: environmental engineering, microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, environmental chemistry. The position is full time and offers a salary of $45,732 and includes full benefits. The initial appointment is for one year beginning as soon as July 23, 2012; continuation beyond one year will be based on performance.
