HKUST is a publicly-funded research university with strong graduate programs. The Division of Environment ((http://www.envr.ust.hk) is a newly established interdisciplinary academic unit under the Interdisciplinary Programs Office to meet the various challenges related to climate change, pervasive pollution, reduction in biodiversity, and the looming supply constraints for a number of key natural resources. Faculty members of the Division have a diverse background in science, engineering, business and social sciences to provide integrated and cutting edge undergraduate and postgraduate education on global environmental issues and emerging solutions.
A new postgraduate program in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (ESPM) will be launched in Fall 2012. The research program will be serving as a platform for interdisciplinary research that involves the interconnection of scientific, technological, environmental socio-economic and policy challenges facing the world.
The Division of Environment is now inviting applications and nominations for tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor) in one of the following fields: (1) atmospheric science & air pollution; (2) climate change adaptations; and (3) environmental economics and policy. Applicants should have a PhD degree and demonstrated academic records and are expected to develop rigorous research programs in one of the above areas. Applicants with interdisciplinary research experience will be preferred.
Salary is highly competitive. Fringe benefits include medical/dental benefits and annual leave. Housing benefits will be provided where applicable. Initial appointment will normally be on a three-year contract. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
