The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology (HKUST) would like to invite applications for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Assistant Professor in the research area of life cycle energy and carbon assessment of buildings. Applicants should have a PhD in building services, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or other closely related field prior to the start of employment. Applicants for the position of Research Assistant Professor should also have at least 3 years of post-doctoral research experience. Candidates should have a general background in building services or civil engineering, with specific research experience in energy modeling, carbon auditing, and life cycle carbon / energy measurement of buildings. Candidates with additional expertise in computer programming, database design, computational fluid dynamics and/or building information modeling will be an asset. Candidates are also expected to have proficient
communication skills in both written and spoken English, to take a leading role in research projects and to work with a high level of independence.
The entry monthly salary is HKD 19,915 (for Post-doctoral Fellow) or HKD 45,520 (for
Research Assistant Professor), which will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. The contract will be for a period of two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
