Ph.D. Positions Available at McGill University
The Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University (Montreal, Canada) invites applications for Ph.D. students in Fall 2016 academic year. The selected students will conduct research on environmental fate, behaviors, and remediation of fluorochemicals in the context of environmental sustainability. The research involves transport and transformation of emerging pollutants, nanotechnology for remediation, and chemical-colloids interactions. The research will be interdisciplinary and collaborative in the state-of-the-art research facilities at McGill University and the Université de Montréal, and will involve close collaboration with industrial and governmental partners. Researchers involved in the research are associated with Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED), and Brace Centre for Water Resources Management.
Qualified candidates should have a B.S. or M.S. degree (or equivalent) in environmental engineering or chemical engineering or other closely related fields of engineering or physical sciences. Previous research experience in laboratory is highly preferred. Hands-on experiences in analytical instruments such as LC-MS and GC-MS or are preferred but not required. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are important. Good English communication skills, both verbal and writing, are also essential.
Exceptional applicants with outstanding academic and leadership records will be recommended for Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship, which is valued at $50,000 per year for three years.
