The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY) invites applications for a Ph.D. position in Environmental Engineering to start in Fall 2016.
The ideal candidate should possess a MS in environmental engineering/science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related engineering or science field. Exceptional BS-level candidates may also be considered (typically admitted as a MS student first). The candidate must have a strong academic record and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prior research experience in environmental chemistry and/or physicochemical processes is desirable. Potential research topics include: (1) transformation of organic contaminants and their interactions with micro- and macro-constituents in natural and built environments and (2) formation and control of harmful byproducts during drinking water purification and wastewater reuse.
