Minimum degree: Ph.D.
Years of experience required: 0 – 3 years of post-doctoral research experience
Salary: minimum $40,000 per year, based on experience and background
Duration: One year, renewable for a second year, and that renewal is subject to availability of continued funding and on adequate performance.

The University of North Dakoda has an opening for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to study the environmental and engineered black carbon materials and their roles in the biotic and abiotic degradation of contaminants. The person hired will work under Drs. Feng Xiao (PI), Mike Mann (co-PI), and Julia Zhao (co-PI). The successful candidate will work in a supportive, highly collaborative, and energetic environment while having ample opportunities to acquire and develop new skills in recovery of valuable resources from municipal/agricultural wastes and material synthesis and characterization.
Guide research projects through experimental design, conduct of experiments, and analysis of data;
Maintain detailed documentation of the experimental work;
Work closely within the group and with outside collaborators;
Maintain close communications with PI regarding progress;
Write, edit, and submit manuscripts/abstracts detailing the results of project.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or Internationally accredited organization. A strong background in environmental chemistry. Experience with material science is preferred but not required;
Team player with initiative;
Highly motivated and strong willed;
Strong written communication skills;
Occasional weekend flexibility;
Minimum one year commitment.
