A Postdoctoral fellowship position is available for the PhD graduate in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Muscat, Oman. The research will focus on the local and the regional urban-industrial air pollution monitoring and atmospheric modelling that covers a wide range of potential interdisciplinary projects exploring the pollutant connections in ambient air, monitoring air quality issues, climate change, and environmental policy. Eligibility criteria: The candidate must have a PhD degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical engineering with the following sub-discipline as air quality engineering, fates of atmospheric pollutants, atmospheric chemistry, atmospheric modeling, etc. The candidates must bear the knowledge and good publication record either of the following topics as -

Inexpensive sensor arrays for measuring and monitoring air pollutants
Modelling and measurement of traffic related air pollutants near major roadways
Evaluation of air pollution arising from energy mining and processing operations
Evaluation of the toxicity of emissions from industries
Laboratory and field investigation of atmospheric oxidation
Detailed characterization of VOC aerosol from vehicles, power plants and refineries
Impacts of atmospheric pollutants on cloud formation and climate change
Development and application of data mining tools to identify the sources of air pollutants
Assessment of the health impacts of air pollutants on lung transplant recipients

At SQU, researcher will be a part of the largest civil and environmental engineering department in Oman and a vibrant research community. Researcher will have opportunity to interact with many faculty members and researchers working on air quality and environmental modeling across different academic departments and institutions. The lab-field-simulation work will offer excellent research and career-related resources for air pollution engineer. In addition, Muscat is a fantastic place to live with low living expenses.

A competitive financial benefits will be awarded as 37,500 USD/year (14,400 OMR/year), which is tax-free. Free medical coverage will be provided at the SQU FAMCO clinic and at the SQU hospital. A priority based housing facility is also available near to the university campus by 100 OMR monthly payments.
