Graduate Student Opportunity – Soil and Water Resources Engineering

The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a PhD student in Soil and Water Resources Engineering area starting Fall 2016 (preferably) or Spring 2017. The research team members have unique expertise in the fields of hydrologic and water quality monitoring and modeling, at field, watershed, and regional scales. The selected graduate students will be offered an assistantship with tuition remission.

The graduate research will focus in water quality modeling and monitoring. The candidate(s) should have degree/s in agricultural/civil engineering discipline with strong background in hydrology, water quality, geoscience or related disciplines. Previous research experience in sediment/chemical/pathogen transport modeling and experience in GIS and programming (Fortran, MATLAB and R) are desirable. Excellent data analysis skill, fluency in English (writing, speaking), oral presentation skill, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team are further essential requirements. Preference will be given to a candidate with experience in field scale and watershed scale water quality models like RZWQM, APEX, SWAT or HSPF.
