ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Tenure-track/Two positions) Cain Department of Chemical Engineering The Cain Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University has two faculty openings falling under the broad areas of “Energy” and “Environment” to be filled as soon as possible, with a preferred start date in the Fall of 2013. These positions have been approved at the rank of assistant professor. We invite applicants with a doctoral degree or equivalent in chemical engineering or closely related fields from recognized institutions, and a proven record of academic accomplishment. The broad research areas include, but are not limited to, such subfields as energy and chemical production from renewable resources, catalysis, novel applications in conventional energy production, computational materials science for energy production, multi-media environmental transport modeling, environmental chemodynamics, green engineering of chemical processes, and global sustainability issues. The successful candidates are expected to build a strong and vibrant research program in the selected areas by working both individually and collaboratively. LSU is the home of a $20 million DOE-Energy Frontier Research Center, the Center for Atomic Level Catalyst Design (CALCD, http://www.efrc.lsu.edu). Chemical Engineering at LSU is over 100 years old and since its inception it has served the needs of the active chemical, petrochemical, energy production, sugar and allied industries in Louisiana. LSU is designated as the Flagship University in the state. It is the largest institution of higher education in the state and is the only public university in the state to be designated a Carnegie Research I University. Our home of Baton Rouge is known for its natural and cultural distinctiveness. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering or related field. Must be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and research.
