The Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at Iowa State University is currently accepting applications for an Environmental Engineering Laboratory and Safety Manager (Laboratory Supervisor II) who will manage the environmental engineering and water resources teaching and research laboratories and oversee the department’s safety operations at on and off campus locations.
This position will be responsible for research and teaching laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, user supervision and training, safety inspections, and general operations. Other responsibilities include collaborating with researchers on proposal development and project execution, conducting analytical analyses, and overseeing safety procedures and processes, including field research and student organization competition team preparations.
The successful candidate will possess knowledge of laboratory safety standards, a thorough understanding of content area, and the ability to monitor and maintain accurate records. The candidate will possess demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity as this position works with a broad and diverse group of individuals both on and off campus.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science or environmental engineering or a closely related field. Preferred qualifications include experience with analysis of organic and inorganic compounds, lab safety management experience including inspecting, implementing, and training users on laboratory safety protocols, and project management experience.
