A postdoctoral researcher position is available immediately at the University of Kansas in the Environmental Engineering Program or Tertiary Oil Recovery Program. The Environmental Engineering Program and Tertiary Oil Recovery Program at KU have established a collaborative research program to develop novel strategies to manage and treat wastewater generated by oil and gas production. The successful candidate will develop and carry out a research program in this area, and support the further growth of this research program through student mentoring, research proposal development and submission and publication of results.

Applicants are required to have a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a closely related field. Candidates must have evidence of appropriate analytical skills, as shown by education and/or related work experiences. Academic or industrial lab experience in one of the following areas is preferred for this position: treatment of high-salinity waters or wastewaters using chemical or biological processes, brine chemistry, polymer science and/or chemistry. The ability to work successfully as part of a collaborative research effort and effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are preferred. Experience in lab management is also desirable.
