Job Description: 

The University of Maryland, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Civil and Environmental Engineering, preferably at the assistant professor level, but appointment at other ranks will be considered.  Candidates should demonstrate the ability to: guide an active scholarly research program, obtain funding from competitive external funding agencies, and teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Although the research specialization area of environmental engineering is open, a strong fundamental science/engineering background is desired and the following topics are of specific interest:  chemical and biosensors development for pathogen and contaminant detection, water-energy nexus, urban water challenges, and resource reutilization.

All applicants must hold a PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field by August 2017.  For best consideration applications should be received by December 10, 2016, but later applications may be reviewed.
