Postdoctoral Scholar – Civil and Environmental Engineering - College of Engineering

UC Berkeley research group in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar, at $50,000-$60,000 per year in the area of Civil Engineering or in a related field, at percent time 100%. The responsibilities of the candidate include the following: Integrating real-time field and satellite blended products into the PRMS hydrologic model used by PG&E, and update the model to use the detailed real-time data and determine the financial benefit of using the improved field data. The work will be completed working with a hydrologic modeler at PG&E as well as researchers at UC Berkeley and Merced. The scholar will prepare peer reviewed journal papers, manuscripts and reports based on the research.

Basic Qualifications:

  • The completion of all PhD degree requirements except the dissertation at the time of application.

Additional Qualifications (by start date):

  • Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or in a closely related field on or prior to start date.
  • Strong background in hydrologic modeling. Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  2. Good organizational and interpersonal skill.
  3. Capable of working in a team environment and effectively interact with a broad range of colleagues, graduate and undergraduate students as well as work independently.

The expected start date is as soon as possible and is a 100% appointment. The initial appointment is for 1 year and the appointment is renewable for a second year depending on availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
