Graduate Research Assistantship Positions – Computational Hydrogeology
Dr. Taghavy of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMD) is advertising two M.Sc. level Research Assistantship positions within his research group at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEN) for the Fall of 2017.
Project Description: With the primary research focus on computational hydrogeology, students will work on subsurface engineering problems encompassing the applications and implications of nanomaterials in geoenvironmental engineering and hydrocarbon reservoir operations. Research involves mechanistic upscaling of bench-scale experimental data to develop REV/field-scale predictive tools for the mobility and reactivity of nanoparticles in porous media.
Applicant Qualifications: Highly motivated applicants with a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering, chemical engineering, and/or petroleum engineering and prior programming experience are encouraged to apply. Applicants with a course-based knowledge of the following subject matters will be given priority: numerical methods for solving partial differential equations, reactive transport principles, flow and transport in porous media.
Onlie-Application: Application submission deadline for Fall admissions to UMD-CEN graduate program is February 15. Prospective applicants may find further information regarding the application procedure and requirements following this link: http://www.umassd.edu/graduate/graduateapplication/ . Any queries for additional information regarding the advertised position and position requirements and responsibilities may be directed to Dr. Taghavy at email@example.com.
