Two postdoctoral positions are available at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to work on research projects related to water and wastewater microbiomes. The appointment is for one year with possible extension for additional 1-2 years subject to fund availability and satisfactory performance. The candidate should have a PhD degree in environmental engineering, environmental microbiology, microbial ecology or related fields at the starting date. The candidate should be highly motivated with strong research interest in solving problems related to drinking water, wastewater treatment, and water reuse. One position will require experiences in operating, automating, and monitoring biological processes, and dealing with the next-generation sequencing dataset. The second position will require strong computation, programing, and bioinformatics skills in dealing with metagenomic and metatranscriptomic datasets. Strong understanding in statistics is preferred. The applicant should have excellent skills in spoken and written English, and interpersonal skills for team work.
