A postdoctoral position is available at the Water Desalination and Reuse Center at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to work on a multidisciplinary research project related to the application of integrated aerobic granular sludge-anammox process for mainstream wastewater treatment with focus on microbial ecology.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in environmental engineering, environmental microbiology, or related fields. The candidate should have strong experience in operating anammox reactors. Experience in next-generation sequencing techniques and data analysis using open source software packages (e.g. MOTHUR; QIIME; MG-RAST) is highly desired. Experience in the use of general molecular biological tools (e.g. PCR, qPCR, clone library, fingerprinting techniques and FISH) is required. Successful candidates are expected to assist in mentoring graduate students and in writing grant proposals, reports, and manuscript preparation. The candidate must possess strong analytical and communication (written and oral English) skills and ability to work in a team.
Conditions of employment
Compensation is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualification and experience accordance with KAUST policies (USD $55-60K per year). Free housing (fully furnished) and health benefits will also be provided. This postdoctoral position is available immediately, will be renewable on an annual basis, and is anticipated for two years.
