The 2018 James J. Morgan Early Career Award Lectureship

Deadline for nominations: August 1, 2017

Environmental Science & Technology, Environmental Science & Technology Letters and the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry are seeking nominations for the James J. Morgan Early Career Award. One early career researcher will receive the award based on research accomplishments impacting the disciplines covered by ES&T. Only authors eight years or less from receipt of their Ph.D. at the deadline for nominations for the Lectureship are eligible (e.g., nominees will have been awarded doctorates on August 1, 2009 or later). Nominations are invited from the global community of scientists and engineers who read and publish in Environmental Science & Technology and Environmental Science & Technology Letters. Self-nominations are permitted.

Each winner will receive:

An award plaque
$2000 USD
Travel expenses up to $2500 USD to attend the 2018 ACS Spring National Meeting in New Orleans, LA

Nominations should include:

Name, affiliation, and e-mail address of the nominator
Nominee’s full CV
2 letters of recommendation
3 research articles from the post-Ph.D. period of independent research
The words “Morgan Award Nomination” should be in the title of the email

Nominations should be formatted into this order in one single PDF file. Separate files will not be accepted for nominations.

Nominations remain in the database for three award cycles. If the nominee is not named the recipient, the nomination will automatically rollover to the next award cycle, as long as the nominee is still eligible based on years since receipt of their Ph.D. Nominators are encouraged to update their on-file nominations if applicable.

The winners will be announced in September 2017 and the award will be presented at the 2018 ACS Spring National Meeting in New Orleans at a symposium featuring the awardee.
