Computing and Sustainability: Introducing CyberSEES

November 19, 2012 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM EDT

The National Science Foundation invites you to attend a webinar to introduce Cyber-Enabled Sustainability Science and Engineering (CyberSEES, NSF 13-500) in the context of NSF's broader activities in Science, Engineering, and Education for Sustainability (SEES), and related activities at the interface of computing and sustainability.

The new CyberSEES program aims to advance interdisciplinary research in which the science and engineering of sustainability are enabled by new advances in computing, and where computational innovation is grounded in the context of sustainability problems.  The program is open to a wide range of sustainability challenges and interdisciplinary approaches, and aims to advance computing and information sciences research and infrastructure in tandem with other disciplines. Proposals are expected to forge interdisciplinary collaborations among the computer and information sciences, social and natural sciences, mathematical sciences, engineering, and associated cyberinfrastructure to address challenging sustainability problems.

The webinar will cover the goals of the SEES initiative, CyberSEES program scope and requirements, and related funding opportunities relevant to computing and sustainability.

Please register for the webinar at: https://mmancusa.webex.com/mmancusa/j.php?ED=193619017&RG=1&UID=0&RT=MiMxMQ%3D%3D.  After your registration is accepted, you will get an email with a URL to join the meeting. Please be sure to join a few minutes before the start of the webinar. This system does not establish a voice connection on your computer; instead, your acceptance message will have a toll-free phone number that you will be prompted to call after joining. If you are calling from an international location, please contact Karen Geary (kgeary@nsf.gov) after your acceptance is received to acquire the appropriate dial in number. Please note that this registration is a manual process; therefore, do not expect an immediate acceptance. Registration will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
