CLEMSON UNIVERSITY. The Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position. A fall 2010 appointment is anticipated at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels. The successful candidate will preferably have an earned PhD in environmental/civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. A PE license or the ability to obtain a PE is desirable. Expertise is sought in bioenvironmental or physical/chemical environmental engineering processes. Examples include use of molecular techniques to study the ecology of community structures and community dynamics in engineered and natural systems, including biofilms; advanced treatment technologies for natural and engineered systems; applications of biological/physical/chemical processes to water reuse; treatment and control of emerging contaminants; sustainability; green engineering; and environmental nanotechnology. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Development of new courses will also be encouraged. The candidate will advise MS and PhD students and develop a high-quality, sponsored research program. Opportunities exist for collaboration with colleagues in the Clemson University Genomics Institute, the Department of Biochemistry and Genetics, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil Engineering, the Graduate Program in Environmental Toxicology, and the Center for Advanced Films and Fibers.
