| DESCRIPTION: | Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (Advanced Transportation) Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty of Engineering Auckland, New Zealand Vacancy Number: 11117 The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is inviting applications for the above position. This opportunity arises due to a need to strengthen the university’s contribution to the transportation engineering sector of New Zealand’s Ministry of Transport targets. The appointee with a doctorate in engineering, will be required to teach Departmental courses in transportation planning, modeling and system analysis, both at under-graduate and graduate levels. This research will be coordinated with the new Transportation Research Centre (TRC) in the Department. Currently, there are five academic staff members in transportation engineering. Expertise in two main areas is particularly desirable: (i) transportation planning, modeling, and simulation including large scale transportation networks as part of urban planning; and (ii) traffic engineering optimization using intelligent transport systems. The appointment is desirable for a senior person because of the requirement for strong industry interaction; appointment at Associate Professor level is available for an outstanding candidate who has the track record and potential to develop an academic centre of excellence.
