The candidate is trained in state of the art computational approaches necessary to model, simulate and control biotechnological unit processes and systems within the urban water cycle. The candidate wishes to develop a vibrant and problem-driven research program within the context of wastewater engineering, preferably with an interest in some of the following focal areas: bioprocess unit operations, plant-wide modelling and optimization, on-line instrumentation-control-automation, model-based predictive control, optimization of wet-weather operation utilizing radar and in-sewer measurements. An interest in bioprocesses in water distribution systems, sewer systems or waste treatment systems is considered an added advantage. The candidate will participate in externally-funded research projects and active collaboration with utility and technology providers. The candidate will furthermore contribute to PhD supervision within the Urban Water Technology graduate school (www.urbanwatertech.dk), and benefit from collaborative research within the Urban Water Engineering Theme (http://www.env.dtu.dk/English/Research/Research%20Themes.aspx) at DTU Environment.
