| DESCRIPTION: | A postdoctoral position in environmental biotechnology is available at McGill University starting in October 2009 or soon thereafter. The project is directed by Professor Dominic Frigon in collaboration with Professors Reghan Hill and Ronald Gehr. The work funded by NSERC and EIMCO Water Technologies (a division of GL&V) aims at determining the mechanism causing the inactivation of pathogens during sludge electro-dewatering. The main responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will be to plan the primary experimental program, operate the lab-scale electro-dewatering unit and perform quantitative analyses of pathogen inactivation and sludge characterization, and help supervise PhD and MEng students. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. He/She will also have a good practical knowledge of molecular biology techniques and statistical experimental design. In addition, knowledge of the chemistry of reactive oxygen species will be an asset. Interested candidates should send a complete CV, a statement of research and career interests (1 page), a list of three references, and two manuscripts (published or not) to Prof. Dominic Frigon at dominic.frigon@mcgill.ca. |
