ENVIRONMENTAL BIOTECHNOLOGY POST DOCTORAL POSITION The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Windsor invite applicants for a post-doctoral position starting immediately in the area of bioprocessing engineering. The 12 month (with the possibility of renewal for another 12 months) position is available immediately under the direct supervision of Dr. Jerald Lalman. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Persons interested in this position should have a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with a strong background and interest in using statistical methods and experimental work in bioprocessing engineering coupled with the use of molecular tools. Applicants must also possess strong analytical and communication (written and oral) skills and be able to conduct independent research work. Experience with analytical instruments including GC, GC/MS and IC/HPLC and familiarity with advanced molecular biology techniques, sterile techniques, microbial culture manipulations and maintenance is highly desirable. The candidate will also assist in the training of graduate student. The selected candidate will focus on projects related to the following areas: optimizing hydrogen production using microbial cultures, operating batch and continuous flow bioreactors, characterizing a variety of agriculture feedstocks and using molecular biology techniques. Experience with the design and operation of microbial fuel cells and the development and characterization of supported nanocatalysts are also desirable. The position is available immediately.
