Hydrometeorology

The Environmental Remote Sensing Laboratory at EPFL, Switzerland, has an immediate opening for a post-doctoral scholar in the field of radar hydrometeorology. The main scientific objective of the project is to develop innovative approaches to investigate the microstructure of liquid and solid precipitation in the Alps using high resolution data from a polarimetric X-band weather radar. Funding is available up to 2 years with a competitive salary (starting at 80'000 CHF/year). Applicants should have a PhD in radar meteorology or a closely related field. Significant experience with radar and computer programming is required. Additional background in one (or more!) of the following areas is desirable: polarimetric radar, mountainous meteorology, statistics. Knowledge of English is required.
