CO2 sequestration

CO2 sequestration

RANK: post-doctoral scholar
INSTITUTION: University of South Florida
DESCRIPTION:

The University of South Florida (USF) has an immediate opening for a post-doctoral scholar in the field of modeling reactive transport during geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide. The position may be held in the Department of Geology or in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. We seek a candidate with expertise in one or more of the following areas: (1) modeling multi-phase flow and/or reactive transport across multiple spatial and temporal scales; (2) aqueous geochemistry; (3) geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide in deep saline aquifers. The selected candidate will investigate the physical, chemical, and mineralogical factors that control carbon sequestration in carbonate aquifers such as those underlying much of Florida. This project is funded through the newly-formed Florida Energy Systems Consortium and may have a duration of up to 2.5 years contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Effective July 1, 2009, USF will be offering a new, comprehensive, competitive benefit package to its post-doctoral scholars. This new program will include a variety of benefits including health, dental, life, and disability insurance, and a new "paid time off" program. Additional information for prospective USF post-doctoral scholars is provided at: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/hr/benefits/Post_Docs.html To apply for the position, please send a cover letter, academic resume, and list of potential references to Prof Jeffrey Cunningham (cunning@eng.usf.edu; phone 813-974-9540). Review of applications will begin immediately.
