The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Civil Engineering Department is seeking a highly motivated Post Doctoral Associate (or Research Assistant Professor) to assist with research and teaching duties on the Lincoln Campus. The candidate will spend about 40% of his/her time teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and 60% participating in on-going research projects and pursuing his/her own research interests. On-going research include projects related to storm water quality, emerging contaminants in surface water and storm water, incorporation of sustainability into engineering education., and opportunity to collaborate with UNL Water Sciences Lab, Water Center, and the School of Natural Resources. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in environmental engineering or related fields. A preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated ability and interest in research, demonstrated interest and ability in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and strong analytical laboratory skills. Funding is available for one year and is possibly renewable for a second year. The position will start in January 2010. The salary is highly competitive and will include university medical coverage and benefits. The Department of Civil Engineering has 24 faculty positions on the Lincoln and Omaha campuses of the University of Nebraska with an ABET/EAC accredited undergraduate curriculum and advanced programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees (Both Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering). There are approximately 350 undergraduate, 50 master’s students and 15 doctoral students currently pursuing degrees on the two campuses.
