The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Clarkson University invites applications to fill a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Environmental Engineering. Exceptional candidates at higher ranks will also be considered. All candidates would be expected to pursue a vigorous, nationally visible, externally funded research program and maintain a strong commitment to teaching at all levels. A PhD in environmental engineering or a closely related field is required of all applicants. The successful candidate will have an interest in collaborative research that complements existing expertise among the environmental engineering faculty and aligns with one or more of Clarkson’s interdisciplinary research centers which include the Center for the Environment and its related Centers (the Center for Sustainable Energy Systems and Center for Air Resources Engineering and Science) and the Center for Advanced Material Processes. Persons are especially sought with expertise in innovative water treatment technologies, environmental systems analysis, or engineering and policy for sustainability. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with 18 tenure track faculty, and the Clarkson Center for the Environment, with over 40 faculty affiliates, provide research, education and outreach opportunities for faculty and their graduate students. The range of research expertise among these faculty has resulted in Clarkson being ranked 33th in the country in environmental engineering and health graduate programs in 2009. Research income for the Center for the Environment exceeded $7.7 million in the 2009 academic year.
