| DESCRIPTION: | The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (http://www.cee.rpi.edu) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applications and nominations for the Kodak Chair in Environmental Engineering. Expectations The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a high-quality research program that complements existing strengths within the Environmental Engineering program. Qualifications Of greatest interest are candidates who can provide collaborative linkages with current research activity and interests including drinking water; applications of biotechnology to treatment, remediation, and energy production; and pollutant-particle interactions across environmental media. In addition to a continued focus on biotechnology, information technology and nanotechnology, the Institute and the School of Engineering are developing new research thrusts on Global Energy Security and Energy and the Environment. The successful candidate may take advantage of opportunities to collaborate with researchers at various Rensselaer centers including the Darrin Fresh Water Institute, the Rensselaer Nanotechnology Center, and the Center for Biotechnology. About the Department The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has 12 faculty, approximately 300 undergraduates and 60 graduate students.
