Tenure Track Faculty Position: Structural Engineering

The School of Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Structural Engineering as an Assistant Professor for a Fall 2010 start date. The School is seeking a faculty member whose research focus is on critical issues in structural engineering practice (e.g. intelligent infrastructure, green civil engineering, advanced structural materials, non-destructive evaluation and monitoring of structures, preservation of heritage structures, building information modeling, life-cycle analysis, resilience and hazard mitigation). The successful candidate will have degrees in civil engineering including an earned doctorate in civil engineering or closely related field. The new faculty member will maintain an active program of externally-funded research and graduate student advising and will actively contribute to undergraduate and graduate instruction in engineering mechanics and structural engineering. It is desirable that the candidate demonstrates ability and interest in becoming registered, or is already registered, as a professional engineer. Interdisciplinary research collaborations will be valued. On campus, opportunities for collaborative research exist with the Complex Systems Center, Vermont EPSCoR, Vermont Advanced Computing Center, and Transportation Research Center.
