Faculty Position in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a faculty position effective September 1, 2010. Preference will be given to an appointment at the assistant professor level but applicants with outstanding credentials will be considered at higher levels. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a related field with research and teaching interest in sustainability and green design with a focus in one of the following areas: (1) material design/synthesis for sustainable infrastructure, (2) infrastructure system design and analysis or (3) sustainable energy systems. Other areas with strong collaborative emphasis and a focus on sustainability will also be considered. Research interests should incorporate fundamental approach to candidate’s research areas that complement existing expertise within the Department as well as within the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation (MCSI), (http://www.mascarocenter.pitt.edu/), which supports research and education in the thrust areas of greening the built environment, sustainable use of water and green materials. The successful candidate will be expected to develop broad collaboration with the existing MCSI faculty and contribute to interdisciplinary and sustainability efforts at the University of Pittsburgh. Student enrollment in the Department is approximately 280 undergraduate students and 90 graduate students (more than 50 are PhD students).
