| DESCRIPTION: | Duties and responsibilities Provide high-quality teaching and sustain and contribute to development of the cooperative undergraduate S&T Civil Engineering program being offered to students at Missouri State University, Springfield. The typical teaching workload is 3 courses per semester (i.e. 3-3 for the academic year). Teaching assignments and teaching loads will be adjusted for large class size, courses with multiple sections, supervisory responsibilities for courses with multiple sections, laboratory supervision responsibilities. Responsibilities include undergraduate advising, professional and service activities related to teaching and program operation. The teaching will be conducted on the MSU campus in Springfield, MO. Vacancy announcement The Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly the University of Missouri-Rolla) Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a non-tenure-track teaching faculty position for our cooperative civil engineering program in conjunction with Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. This ABET accredited program was implemented to meet the growing Springfield regional demand for civil engineering education. The person selected for the position is expected to be resident in the Springfield area. Applicants for this position are expected to provide high-quality teaching in the areas of environmental, hydrology and hydraulics engineering. They are also expected to sustain and contribute to development and growth of the new cooperative civil engineering program. The typical teaching workload is three 3 courses per semester. Additional responsibilities include educational laboratory supervision, undergraduate advising, and professional and service activities related to teaching and program operation. A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in a related area is required for this position. PE licensure or the ability to obtain a PE within 5 years is expected. The candidate should have a background in environmental, hydrology, hydraulic and/or water resources engineering. The appointment is anticipated to be at the assistant teaching professor level; however, qualified candidates at all levels will be considered. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2010.
