| DESCRIPTION: | The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (http://engineering.tufts.edu/cee) at Tufts University (http://www.tufts.edu/) seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in the Environmental Health Program at the Assistant or Associate level, with rank determined by experience and accomplishments. Exceptional senior candidates may also be considered for appointment at the rank of Full Professor. Candidates are expected to possess a doctoral degree or equivalent in engineering or a relevant field, with expertise in the identification, characterization, and toxicology of waterborne pathogens and emerging contaminants, infectious disease and global health issues. Principal responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate instruction, establishment of an externally-funded research program, as well as University and professional service. The successful candidate will join an Environmental Health Program that is positioned at the interface between engineering and public health. Current areas of research include exposure assessment of water contamination, pathogen fate in the environment, and relationships between environmental conditions and human health. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests that complement existing strengths and offer opportunities for collaborative research with faculty in the Department and throughout the Schools of Engineering and Arts and Sciences, as well as the suite of professional schools at Tufts including Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Nutrition Science and Policy. Tufts has a unique set of schools that are internationally recognized and known for interdisciplinary collaborations, as exemplified by the graduate program in Water: Systems, Science and Society (http://www.tufts.edu/water/). Located only six miles from the historic Boston downtown area, faculty members on the Tufts Medford/Somerville campus have extensive opportunities for academic collaboration and participation in the rich intellectual life of the Boston area.
