| DESCRIPTION: | INAUGURAL FACULTY POSITION CIVIL ENGINEERING PROGRAM University of California, Riverside Bourns College of Engineering The Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside will begin development of a civil engineering program emphasizing sustainability and engineering management. The College invites applications for a senior faculty member who will lead the program development. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Although all areas of research will be considered, we are particularly interested in applicants with research interest in: (1) Transportation Systems Engineering, (2) Sustainable Urban Planning, (3) Water/Wastewater Systems Engineering, or (4) Engineering Management. The successful applicant will complement the highly motivated and entrepreneurial spirit of the College faculty, and will be expected to initiate and sustain strong sponsored multidisciplinary research and graduate training programs. People with vigorous research programs and demonstrated graduate student productivity are strongly encouraged to apply for appointment. Salary level will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Bourns College of Engineering has five departments – Bioengineering, Chemical & Environmental Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. There are also interdisciplinary programs in Business Informatics, Computer Engineering, and Material Science and Engineering. Over the past five years, the College’s numbers of faculty and undergraduates have doubled; graduate student enrollment has increased six-fold, and research expenditures have more than tripled. The College currently has 84 faculty members, 1750 undergraduates, 470 graduate students, and more than $32 million in annual research expenditures. The College recently opened its Engineering II building in 2005, and is expecting the opening of two additional buildings in 2011 and 2014.
