Five or more years beyond the Ph.D. is desirable. Rank will depend on candidate's interest and academic credentials. The successful candidate must have credentials that meet criteria for tenure appointment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenured position emphasizing environmental chemistry, funded through the State Laboratory of Hygiene (the state public health laboratory in Wisconsin). The successful candidate would direct the Environmental Health Laboratory Division of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, as well as provide leadership for a variety of chemical and biological testing activities conducted by a staff of over one hundred professionals at the Laboratory. With a tenure home in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the successful candidate is expected to actively participate in the Environmental Chemistry Group within the department. Applicants should have a strong background in environmental chemistry and its relationships to environmental engineering, limnology and public health. Proven excellence in laboratory management as well as in the research and teaching of environmental chemistry is required. Teaching responsibilities include one upper level course; e.g., chemical environmental analysis. Excellent opportunities exist for research collaborations across the University of Wisconsin and with Wisconsin state agencies. University and community service, as appropriate, is expected. |
