DESCRIPTION: Job Description: The institution currently supports an undergraduate program in Civil Engineering Technology and anticipates offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering by the time an appointment is made. To more fully meet its mission, SUNYIT plans to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering: Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Civil Engineering (CE) at the baccalaureate level and Systems Engineering (SE) at the master's level. SUNYIT has long had research and educational partnerships with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in Rome, NY, minutes from the SUNYIT campus, and has recently forged a multi-million dollar educational partnership with University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE). SUNYIT is currently in the midst of a $100 million expansion which includes a new Advanced Technology Center (ATC), a Computer Chip Commercialization Center (QuadC), a new field house, student center and residence hall. The proposed QuadC facility at SUNYIT will include a state-of-the-art clean room for assembly and integration of System-on-Chip (SoC) technologies, a business incubator to attract chip suppliers and contractors, and the first-ever SEMATECH Center in Upstate New York. Requirements: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in environmental engineering and lower division civil engineering and engineering science courses, teach at the graduate level and develop and maintain a funded research program with emphasis in nanotechnology or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who will collaborate in more than one area. The successful candidate will also be involved in curriculum development, recruitment of freshmen and graduate students, development of co-op opportunities, industrial engagement, and campus and community service. Academic rank is dependent on teaching and research experience. Earned Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field is required; doctoral candidates will be considered, but must complete the degree by May 31, 2010.
