The College of Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile seeks candidates for one tenure-track position in Environmental Engineering at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will work at the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering and the Environmental Engineering Center. The Department has responsibility for teaching and research in the following disciplines: fluid mechanics & hydraulics, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources, water quality, water and wastewater treatment, and aqueous geochemistry. The department organizes its activities into three highly integrated areas: water resources, hydraulics, and environmental engineering. The Environmental Engineering Center congregates faculty and researchers to develop multidisciplinary research projects in environmental engineering. We invite applicants in Environmental Engineering, with particular interest in candidates with expertise related to one or more of the following areas: environmental organic chemistry, environmental biotechnology, molecular biology tools, and treatment technologies for the removal of conventional and emerging organic contaminants of interest in water and wastewater. Experience in experimental studies is needed. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain externally funded research, publish in ISI journals, supervise graduate students, lead a research team, and collaborate within the department and other research groups in the field. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field at the time of hiring. The candidates are expected to be excellent teachers who are committed to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning; to develop new courses in the field; to engage in scholarly and service activities; and to engage in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process. Proficiency in Spanish and English is required. Job start date is flexible. |
