DESCRIPTION:

The Associate Research Scientist will make valuable contributions to the Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) for Advanced Studies in Novel Surfactants in the Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering.

The incumbent will be a part of I/UCRC team and would be willing to contribute intellectually and scientifically to the research programs. The incumbent would provide expertise, leadership, and skills in mentoring students and junior scientists, in managing the research programs, writing scientific papers and in proposing and developing novel insights and concepts.

The ideal person would be able to contribute in the following areas: synthesis and characterization - inorganic, organic, organophosphorus and functional polymers; polymer supported catalysts; phosphorus containing dendrimers for bio-applications, nano magnetic systems; understanding and interpreting the properties of molecular and polymeric materials.

The I/UCRC research programs are quite interdisciplinary and we collaborate with several researchers from many different areas of science. Such a situation would give the Research Scientist a great opportunity to learn and appreciate other disciplines, work with other collaborators, and begin to make connections and integrate contributions from various scientists into a coherent research output.

Job requirements: PhD and demonstrated leadership in field of research. 1-2 years postdoctoral experience preferred.
