DESCRIPTION:

A postdoctoral research associate is sought to work in the area of contaminant bioavailability and soil/sediment remediation. This will be a 1-2 year position supported by recently funded projects from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences through the Superfund Research Program and the Department of Defense SERDP programs. The primary responsibilities of the post doc will involve: 1) developing and testing sorbent amendments including biochars for in-situ remediation of contaminated soils/sediments, 2) developing methods for assessing contaminant bioavailability in soils/sediments using gut fluid mimics, 3) help mentor Ph.D. students, 4) apply for and manage research projects. A Ph.D. in Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, or a related field is required with strong research experience and interest in organic contaminant fate, transport, and bioavailability processes.
