| DESCRIPTION: | The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Duke University is seeking a full-time laboratory research technician for the environmental chemistry research group. The technician will be responsible for analysis of trace elements and organic contaminants in environmental matrices, oversee operations and maintenance of major laboratory equipment, train graduate student and postdoctoral fellows, and coordinate user-fee based laboratory services of environmental chemical analyses for campus-wide research initiatives. Highly qualified candidates will have demonstrated excellence in communication and organizational skills. Prior research experience in trace metals and trace organic compounds as well as experience with ICP-MS and LC-MS-MS instrumentation is preferred. The technician should have graduate level training (Ph.D. preferred) in analytical or environmental chemistry, environmental science or environmental engineering. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Anticipated start date is September 2010. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
