Postdoctoral Fellow Position – Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Clear Water Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong. A position on postdoctoral fellow is available in the areas of the fate and biodegradation of PAH (e.g. Naphthalene) in soils/ sediments polluted by mixed contaminants (i.e. PAH and heavy metals). Chelating agent in couple with biodegradation process will be applied. We are looking for a self-driven postdoctoral researcher with a doctoral degree in environmental engineering or a closely related field with background in biodegradation of organic contaminants. Expertise is required in microbial techniques including culturing microorganisms and molecular techniques (e.g. PCR cloning, qPCR, etc.) for microbial community analysis. The candidate will be expected to assist in the training and mentoring graduate students and writing research proposals. The candidate must possess strong analytical and communication (written and oral English) skills and be able to conduct independent research. The initial appointment is for 1-year; continuation beyond 1 year will be based on performance and funding availability. The position will remain open until filled.
