Bob Baillod spent the majority of his career as a professor at Michigan Technical University. In the early 1980's he played a major role in the development of the school's highly regarded undergraduate environmental engineering program and served as head of the department from 1991 to 2005. In addition, Bob's efforts in service to our profession were profound. He was chair of the 5th AEEP conference on environmental engineering education and served as AEEP president in 1991-1992. He served on the AAEE Board of Trustees, was founding editor of Environmental Engineer: Applied Research and Practice, AAEE's peer-reviewed journal, and served as co-leader of the Environmental Engineering Body of Knowledge (BOK) Work Group which defined the BOK needed to enter environmental engineering practice in the 21st century.
Unfortunately, Bob passed way in 2012 before the AEESP award recipients were announced. Members of Bob's family will be presented to receive his award at a ceremony in spring, 2013, at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan Tech.
