Job Description: 

Research Fellows (A): For Biological Processes Research Activities at AEBC The applicants will have experience in Environmental/Biochemical Engineering, or Environmental Microbiology/Biotechnology, or possibly Analytical Chemistry, with a focus on biological wastewater treatment, and will integrate into AEBC’s R&D thrusts on biological processes. The three projects will be on: (i) the effect of nutrient deficiency on anaerobic processes during transient loading; (ii) the effect of toxins on anaerobic processes and their monitoring using specially developed sensors; and, (iii) the effect of hydraulic/organic shock loads on anaerobic membrane reactors. Requirements: • A recognized PhD in Environmental/Biochemical Engineering, Environmental Microbiology or Environmental Biotechnology, or possibly Analytical Chemistry. • Expertise and experience in biological processes (fresh PhD graduates are welcome, but 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience will be an advantage). • Skills in bioreactor design/operation, analytical chemistry (experience using GC-MS and LC-MS would be very useful). • Good planning and management skills. • Ability to integrate well into a team of researchers with different backgrounds and the ability to learn new techniques. • Good writing and communication skills.
