Michigan State University, Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences (former Crop and Soil Sciences) invite applications for a postdoctoral research associate position. The research associate will investigate sorption of organic contaminants by soils, sorption mechanisms related to different soil components, and the formation and bioavailability of dioxins in soils. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in environmental chemistry, soil science/chemistry, geochemistry, or a related area. Excellent analytical skills for analysis of trace levels of persistent organic pollutants including dioxins, and mechanism-based research experience including spectroscopy and molecular modeling are desired qualifications. The position is available immediately and will remain open until an appropriate candidate is selected. The initial appointment will be for one year, with possible renewals, depending on the availability of funding and satisfactory performance of the research associate.
