One position for a postdoctoral researcher is available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The postdoc will lead efforts to design and execute studies on occurrence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in various environmental matrices. Besides, the postdoc will assist in supervising graduate and undergraduate students as appropriate. The candidate should have (1) a Ph.D. in environmental engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field; (2) demonstrated ability to design and conduct experiments, operate laboratory equipment, and analyze data; (3) sound knowledge of fate and transport of organic contaminants in the environment; and (4) strong verbal and written communication skills. Other strongly preferred experience includes LC-MS/MS analysis and field sample collection. The candidate should have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and a proven track record of research success demonstrated by publications in high-impact journals. Leadership and an ability to multi-task on more than one project are required. The appointment will start May 2021 (negotiable), with the initial contract of 12 months and possibility to renew based on mutual agreement.
